A Walk in Apia
When we were in Apia, on the island of Upolu in Samoa, we decided to just explore on our own, without an excursion.  We were in Samoa, often referred to as Western Samoa, and is not American Samoa.  Upolu is one of four islands of Samoa.  The other three are Savaii, Manono and Apolima.  It’s also about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand.

But, on this day, we weren’t thinking about any of that.  We were enjoying the view as we walked along Main Beach Road from the pier where we docked to the more central part of town.  It was a nice walk along the shoreline, and we did enjoy the very warm, very humid weather.

There were many flowers all over the area.  I don’t know the names of these blooms, but they certainly benefited from both the warmth and the humidity.

I found some of the business kind of amusing.  Imagine, an Italian pizza place in Samoa!  I wonder what it tasted like.  Unfortunately, most of the businesses were closed on the day we were there, as it was a national holiday.

As we passed the old courthouse (more about that in a later blog), I couldn’t help but notice this perfectly matched pair the leaf and the bloom.

After we saw what we wanted and turned back to walk back to the ship, we saw this charming sign, pointing the direction (and kilometers) to various cities.  And, nope, Albuquerque wasn’t one of the signs!

On the walk back, I loved some of the bright colors, sometimes used differently than one would think a coral fire house??  I couldn’t help but chuckle.

And, finally, some lovely lighting on some greenery that we only see as a house plant back home!  But, here, I’m guessing it grows year ‘round, as I doubt they really have a “winter” here.  It’s probably more like the humid, rainy season, and the more humid, rainier season!
Enjoy!
